A wireless sensor network consists of:

  • motes, wireless sensors that form a mesh network

  • network manager, a device that monitors and manages the wireless network performance and security.

Your instructor will start a network manager that wirelessly advertises a network available to join.

  • If you are using an Aude board, open the case, and enable the the LED jumper. Your instructor will show you how

  • Switch on your mote

What is the sequence of LED activity of your motes?

  • Step 1 (looking for the network)

Answer 1:

  • Step 2 (heard the network, busy joining)

Answer 2:

  • Step 3 (fully joined)
